National Dialogue on AI in Food Safety
The University of Guelph (AI4Food and Research Innovation Office), along with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), are organizing the second event in the National Dialogues on AI in Agriculture and Food Series entitled the National Dialogue on AI in Food Safety. This event will be held on June 4 and 5, 2025 at the University of Guelph, Guelph, Canada. It aims to foster cross-sector conversations exploring the transformative potential of AI in enhancing food safety while addressing ethical, technical, and regulatory challenges. The event will convene government leaders, industry representatives, academic experts, and international participants to discuss AI’s role in improving food safety systems in Canada.

Event Motivation
With the increasing complexity of global food systems, the demand for agile, data-driven approaches to food safety risk management is greater than ever. This dialogue aims to bridge stakeholders, share lessons learned, explore AI applications in contamination detection, food waste reduction, predictive modeling, and ensure responsible, transparent AI integration.
